"In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines..."
Among all the books I read as a little girl, the Madeline books by Ludwig Bemelmans were my favorite, mostly because of my name, but also because of the adorable, unique stories. I began taking French in middle school and have continued ever since; I am hoping to leave France this June finally fluent. I still find the Madeline books endearing; they are a constant reminder of my childhood. I like to think my love for the French language and culture began with these books. Now, here I am, majoring in French (along with English), living in France and attending school here for four months. I will be documenting my time here in this blog as well as on a blog for Notre Dame's student newspaper, The Observer. Maybe by the time I leave these posts will be written fully in French! Merci beaucoup pour les lire!
